Camellia condominiums in the current Park Residences in Bangsar South is set to open in February 2014 or sooner (this review is published in September 2013), but from what the editors of PropertyReviews.my observed during a visit, the development is undoubtedly promising. What, with its serviced units and other oncoming amenities, there is so much that prospective residents and real estate investors can look forward to in the property. Read on…
The serviced suites are really the main attraction at the Camellia. Compared to its predecessors and closest neighbors at the Park Residences enclave, Begonia and Acacia, the Camelia is targeted at a more high end clientele. Size seems the last thing they are promoting here, with their homes being smaller than a lot of others. There are 4 types of condo units in the 34-storey serviced residences:
- Type A1 –1,419 square feet and 3 bedrooms plus a majestic view of the KLCC
- Type A2 – this type of unit comes at the same size as type A1 but with relatively smaller rooms with 4 bedrooms and a view of the Pantai Panorama
- Type B – these units come with 2 bedrooms at 861 square feet each
- Type C – 638 square feet with a single bedroom
Apart from the fact that these homes are serviced, the units here are also either fully furnished or semi-furnished unlike the Begonia and the Acacia. So basically, all a new homeowner needs to bring with him is himself and some clothes and the units would be ready to move in. That, or he could just go shopping at the in-house mall, The Sphere which is located just within the business center area of the Park Residences, or just drive to the nearby Mid Valley Mall or the Bangsar Shopping Center for a little shopping.
Amenities-wise, the Camelia also has a lot of promise. On top of what the Park already has, the developers of the property – the UOA Group –are putting up an infinity pool for the Camelia. And that comes with the Jacuzzi, wading pool for kids, sauna, multi-purpose room, playground, and clubhouse. Furthermore, the developers are planning to put up a sprawling 6-acre park to add more of nature to their current piece of landscaped area.
In total, the 34-storey building houses 720 suites and units, but only about 400 is going to be in use as residential areas. The 200-plus units above the 20th floor are going to be dedicated for use as hotel suites and apartments.
As we will be seeing less new launches of city condominiums, “city fringe” areas like Bangsar South will be getting more attention from investors and genuine home buyers alike. We like Bangsar South mainly for its location; being in the way between Kuala Lumpur city and Petaling Jaya means that everything is rather accessible and convenient.
Park Residences is situated next to The Horizon which is a commercial area with business suites; this will appeal to the businessmen who would want to live and work in the same area. The Sphere is more of the off-the-mill shopping centre which means that residents will not even have to go to the nearby Midvalley for their shopping needs. Park Residences is pretty much self-contained, which is good.

Prices for units here at the Camellia start at over RM 500,000 for semi-furnished single bedroom units on current listings and could go as much as RM 1.5 million for the bigger units. The capital outlay is (relatively) low due to the small-ish sizes; Camellia is friendly to the beginner investor.
