Imagine waking up to elegant landscaping, lush greenery, paved walkways, and water features all set in an indoor courtyard—feels relaxing, isn’t it? This is only a preview of the Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon lifestyle, a freehold condominium developed by UM Land.
Located in Lorong Ceylon off Jalan Raja Chulan in KLCC’s famous Golden Triangle, the “Seri” is a residential development that houses a total of 96 serviced apartment units. Its chic living concept as well as its excellent location has attracted a lot of residents and investors. The condominium will be divided into a serviced residence and condominium units.
Somerset Seri is next to the Downtown Condominium and across the street from the Fortune Court apartments. One Residency is also a stone’s throw away, as well as serviced residences Lanson Place and Verticas Residensi.
Ringgit Matters
Last 2007, the Seri Bukit Ceylon’s sale prices experienced a huge increase and capital gain, however economic crisis kept its average sale prices to continue rising. However, Seri Bukit Ceylon’s average selling prices lately seem to go nowhere but up, as recorded within the past few months (prior to the publication of this review).
Listed average (asking) prices were estimated to be RM920 to RM960 per square feet during the research for this review piece. The Seri Bukit Ceylon’s sale prices remain slightly higher as compared with its neighbouring condominiums, including the Menara Bukit Ceylon and Downtown Condominium. However, looking at the condominium’s exact location and its wide array of layout options, it’s clear where your extra ringgit will go. Built-Up Areas and Layout Plans
Ascott International Hoteliers is handling and managing the serviced apartments. The Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon will occupy the property’s 4th to 12th floors. The 13th to 23rd floor will house the condominium units.
Potential residents and investors will have seven types of residential units to choose from. These units are both available for long-term and short-term rentals.
The first type is a studio executive unit, with a built-up area of 584 square feet. There is also a studio premier unit, which is sized a little larger at 591 square feet. The one bedroom executive unit has a built up area of 640 square feet, while a one bedroom premier unit is sized at 730 square feet. Seri Bukit Ceylon’s two bedroom units come in three types, namely: a two bedroom deluxe, which has a built-up area of 937 square feet; a two bedroom executive unit, which is measured at 1,118 square feet; and a two bedroom premier unit, which has a built-up area of 1,260 square feet. There are enough layouts for potential residents, expats, or travelers to choose from, depending on their lifestyles.
In terms of facilities and amenities, the Seri Bukit Ceylon is packed. Both the condominium residents and hotel guests share its facilities, including the swimming pool and the gymnasium. In addition, there will also be a convenience store, a café, and a sauna.
The serviced apartments would have daily maid services. Laundry and dry cleaning services are also offered for guests. The Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon’s 96 serviced apartment units would be furnished with an entertainment centre which includes a DVD player, a stereo, and a TV. Units would also come with a writing desk, an electronic safe, and a washing machine. In addition, its kitchen will include a microwave oven, refrigerator, hood and hob, and cabinets. A 24-hour security service system will be implemented for the safety of its residents and guests.
Thoughts on the Seri Bukit Ceylon
A prospective investor once told me, “If you want to be included among the many investors who’ve made their millions after investing on the Seri Bukit Ceylon early, then now is about time to do so.” We didn’t take her advice – don’t ask why. 😉
As the economy is showing progress, we at PropertyReviews.my expect that the Seri Bukit Ceylon will go with the flow with promising capital gains and rental yield. On the other hand, singles and small families can take advantage of its conveniently-sized units, while large families also have an option for larger and more spacious units. With its excellent location, amenities, and overall options, living the Seri Bukit Ceylon lifestyle is definitely something to yearn for.
On the minus point, well, living in a “hotel” setting is not everyone’s cup of tea. The transience of hotel tenants may not be too appealing to some, but this is offset by the hotel-standard facilities which are generally better maintained when compared to the usual “Joint Management Board” run operations.
Finally, at RM1,000 PSF levels Somerset Seri may be viewed as the “poor man’s option” of branded or hotel residences such as St Regis, RuMa or Banyan Tree although its price tag is definitely nothing to be scoffed at. As the branded residences concept catches on one might expect properties like this to further appreciate in due time.
